About the class
Join Cyrus Henry of Ngai Te Rangi & Ngāti Raikawa for a 90-minute online workshop introducing Āio Meditation — a unique practice grounded in Māori wisdom and inspired by the universal sound of om.
The practice of Āio uses the vowel sounds Ā – I – O as anchors to regulate the nervous system, balance energy, and reconnect with your Atuatanga (divine essence). Each sound carries a deep symbolic meaning:
Ā — Pūmotomoto, the physical world, the bellybutton/umbilical cord, the divine mother
I — Manawa, the bridge of the heart, the divine father
O — Whatumanawa, the third eye, the spiritual world, the sacred union of child and creation
Through sounding, breath, and somatic tapping (inspired by BodyTalk and NLP), participants will be guided to activate and harmonise the belly, heart, and third eye, fostering both calmness and vitality.
