About the class

In celebration of Pacific Island Heritage month, Learn Māori Abroad founder & director Amelia Butler will be teaching four Māori workshops in Bakersfield, CA in May! Join us to immerse yourself in Te Ao Māori (Māori culture) and kapa haka (traditional Māori performing arts) for the day. Whether you are new to Māori culture, song and dance, or have experience with kapa haka before these workshops offer a unique opportunity to connect with Māori traditions and expand your cultural knowledge. Hosted by TU Pasefika.


Workshop Schedule:


10am - 11:30am Haka workshop

11:30 - 1pm Waiata ā Ringa / Action song workshop

1pm - 1:30pm Lunch Break

1:30 - 3pm Poi Workshop
