Our Beginners 1 course is designed especially for absolute beginners — perfect for anyone who has never learned te reo Māori before and is ready to take their very first steps. Over 8 weekly lessons, you'll be guided by Kaiako (teacher) Chris in a relaxed and supportive environment. We start right at the beginning — with the Māori alphabet, focusing on vowels, consonants, and pronunciation, so you can build a strong foundation from day one. You'll then move into learning everyday words, simple sentence structures, and common greetings, while also gaining an understanding of the cultural context that gives the language its richness and meaning. Whether you're learning to connect with whānau (family), support your tamariki (children), or explore the beauty of the language and culture, this is the perfect place to start.
